Practical introduction to 3D printing

Beginner | 5 hours (incl. lunch break) | 4 Modules | Co-funded by the EU | theory + practice

Nowadays, 3D printing offers a fast, cost-effective and flexible way to produce prototypes or individual pieces up to small series. In this workshop, you will get a practical introduction to the entire process chain – from the first 2D design to the finished printed part. After the course, you will master the basics to implement your own projects independently andhl in private as well as in the company.

Modules

Target group:

  • Interested parties without previous knowledge who are looking for a compact entry-level
  • SMEs, educational institutions and workshops that want to set up and use 3D printing internally
  • Makers and technology enthusiasts who are already printing, but have not yet developed their own CAD models

Module 1: Technology

  • Structure of common FDM printers
  • Filaments & typical applications
  • Ready to print: print your first models yourself

Module 2: Thinking from 2D to 3D

  • Training spatial awareness
  • Analyzing 2D sketches and transferring them to 3D

Module 3: CAD Practice with Onshape

  • Parametric Design Step by Step
  • Designing, modifying, and preparing components for export

Module 4: AI in 3D printing

  • Current status and outlook

Bonus: All participants go home with their first self-constructed and printed object.

What you will learn

Getting to know 3D printers as a tool for idea testing, workflow optimization and using spare parts
